Homepage

A homepage is an essential component of any eCommerce website. It is the default page of a website that a user lands on when they load the URL. A homepage acts as a gateway to the rest of the website as it contains links and/or a navigation bar that will lead them to different pages. The homepage is especially important as it serves as the first impression for the business, and it often determines whether or not the visitor will stay and explore your website or bounce off. 

Essential Elements of a Homepage 

  • Menu Bar - This includes links to all the important pages of your website. It should be in a place that is visible to the visitors that come on the site they are encouraged to explore more. Having a menu bar also makes website navigation much easier. 
  • Branding - This includes elements such as a logo and an eye-catching design/theme that is unique to your business. Strong branding features will help leave a good first impression and a lasting impact on visitors. 
  • Headline - Your headline should go in the hero section of your homepage. It's usually positioned in the center of the page and used to give visitors an idea of the mission and vision of the company. 
  • Calls-to-action - The homepage should have multiple CTAs that push customers to take the next step in the buyer journey. 
  • Social Proof - Social proof can be added in the form of customer reviews, testimonials, certificates, or awards earned by the company. These help to build the trustworthiness of the brand and play a big role in helping obtain conversions. 
  • Features and Benefits - The hero section should also include a couple of points about features of the product or service that is being offered and what benefits it provides. 
  • Lead Magnet - Include an offer or incentive that visitors can receive if they sign up for it. This is a great way to get leads and grow your mailing list. For example - free trials, free ebooks, newsletter. Subscription. 
  • Search Bar - The search bar is usually situated on the top, right-hand corner of the page. This allows them to find whatever they are looking for quickly and easily without spending time navigating through the different pages of the website. It plays an important role in offering a good user experience.
